As far as movies for the kid to watch. How old is he again? As far as Woody Allen goes, how about "Love and Death?" Could certainly chat about the Russian theme, and it is brutally funny. Also, I love some of his relatively recent stuff, like "Everyone says I love you," "Deconstructing Harry"(might be too adult themed) and "Mighty Aphrodite" (also too much with the sex - maybe).
As far as good comedies go, how about "One-Two-Three," courtesy of Billy Wilder?
